Wellness Coaching
Wellness based coaching, incorporates everything, not just food, it isn’t just “if you fix your food intake everything works for you.” That is definitely your start and then you progress into coaching of the whole body, mind and spirit. Wellness coaching is a support system, a coach that has knowledge that can stand by you, and try different things to improve your well-being. It starts with simple changes that over time make a big difference. It’s all about positive reinforcement, that if you add good things into whatever you are doing you can you can overtake bad habits.
How is it different from nutritionist or personal training? Wellness coaching covers more of a broad spectrum of what you need and if you need more physical activity in your daily life, then we will find that out with the coaching. If you need more water throughout your daily life, we will find that out through working together. It involves learning about you and your daily life to figure out what you as an individual need. A positive way to make changes, it is not about what you are doing wrong, but what can we add that is a positive? Whatever you want to take away from your routine will just gradually disappear.
What can I expect?
Wellness coaching, whether it is exercise or food, takes time. It is a program, not a set program, that carries over for months. What you would expect is to have me as your support group through asking questions, finding out how you are doing and giving guidance. That guidance on new steps to take maybe daily, weekly or monthly. For instance, our first consultation would be a health history consultation, with questions you may never have been asked before. Those questions lead to where you are, what are you here for, how do you feel, how does your body feel, and what are your goals? Then we take all those goals and answers and we start with a very basic let’s dive into what are the good things you are adding into your daily food intake. We start with foods as the first step: How are your grains, what kind of vegetables or green colorful foods are you eating? Then as we go through months of working together you might find out that you need a little more exercise or you need a routine of more spiritual guidance. There are far more factors other than food, but that is our starting block. You will never find me saying “ Let’s remove this.” Rather I may say: “let’s try to add a glass of water in the morning, instead of let’s take away that diet coke. ”
How Does it Work?
You always work on on one with your coach. Usually you touch base twice a month, which allows you to have goals and to work toward those goals for the next meeting. The meeting is an hour long, it can be in person or it can be through Skype or Zoom online. The main thing is it needs to work in your schedule. It needs to make you feel like you are excited to have that next meeting, because that goal that you and I are reaching for, you can complete with feeling good about yourself.
Lasting change takes time. Wellness coaching is usually a six-month program with typically twice a month check-ins or more if needed depending on each individuals needs . I offer a three-month program as well, It is really about defining what you and your body need.
